Test Taking Tips for Elementary Age Student

Prepare Ahead of Time
  1. Pack your backpack and supplies the night before so you are not in a hurry
  2. Eat a healthy and filling dinner the night before
  3. Get a good night's rest (8-10 hours of sleep)
  4. Make sure to eat a healthy, energizing breakfast
  5. While getting ready for school, listen to your favorite music and dress in comfortable clothes
  6. Test day is not a good time to rush around and risk getting to school late.  Arriving a few minutes early is a much better idea.

Do Your Best Work, Think Positive Thoughts

  • Positive Affirmations Can Help!
  • Examples:  "I can do this", "I am smart and I like to learn", "I got this"
  • If you get stuck, stop for a minute, take a deep breath and give yourself a positive affirmation

Listen Carefully to Instructions Before the Test
  • If you have a question or don't understand, make sure you ask your teacher

Find the Pace That is Right for You and Don’t Worry About Others
  • Everyone works at a different pace.  It is not a race.
